hit Scientists proved they can do glamour convincingly with a dazzling display of "elegance with a touch of blue" at their most high-profile awards night. While climate change dominated the agenda, with nine of 20 prizes awarded to research on that issue, the most cheering result was the People's Choice Award; more than 17,000 Australians voted online for animal-loving winner Hala Raghib's work on testing the safety of new heart drugs without using animals. The approving audience included Divonne Holmes a Court and Lucy Turnbull and MCs included Adam Spencer, Jennifer Byrne and Sandra Sully.

miss The strange and convoluted roadworks encircling Australian Technology Park meant guests required the IQ of a leading scientific researcher just to find the entrance. AC
